Therapy for Sexual Concerns
Over the last two decades researchers, therapists, and physicians have made tremendous progress in helping people overcome sexual problems. Sex Therapists help clients increase knowledge of how the mind and body work when it comes to sex. They also cut through the variety of false or misleading information found in magazines and less reliable internet sources. Sex Therapy also works hand in hand with medical interventions from simple suggestions such as “there is a medical treatment for that” to supporting the use of medications and physical therapy.
Certified sex therapists are psychotherapists with vastly greater knowledge of how humans exist as sexual beings. Our training is extensive and set to rigorous standards set by the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).
Overall you have four choices:
- You can book an appointment with one of the therapists on our team.
- You can book an appointment with our physician if you are pretty sure that you are looking for a medical treatment or a second opinion about another physicians’ diagnosis and treatment plan, or you want to know if you are ‘normal’ just the way you are.
- Do nothing different and hope that things get better.
- Try self help techniques. Some of these are going to be helpful, and some are not. At worst, you will find information that is actually harmful to you. Look at our “try this first” section after each sexual function concern for reliable information that may be of help to you right now.
