Biography
Tyler is a licensed clinical social worker and AASECT certified sex therapist. He earned his master’s degree from the Greater Rochester Collaborative program and currently also works for the University of Rochester. Tyler believes that range of human experience in sexuality necessitates a multifaceted and dynamic approach, where the therapeutic partnership provides the tools to identify and resolve the causes of one’s problems, not merely treat the symptoms.
He has a particular interest in working with individuals struggling with sexual functioning problems, as well as intimacy issues and LGBT related concerns. Tyler works through the lens that the understanding and intervention in these complex life experiences is driven by the strength of the therapeutic relationship. To that end, safety is foundational to all treatment, as is the pursuit of the emotional truth of the situation. He uses multiple therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamics, cognitive-behavioral, emotion focused, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
In consideration of busy schedules, Tyler is seeing clients on some evenings during the week and Saturdays.
